He scored on his international debut, a friendly against Estonia in August 2003. In the summer of 2005, he was signed by Wisla Krakow who were celebrating their third successive league title.
In the third round of UEFA Champions League qualifying, Sobolewski scored a goal which looked to have put his side through against Panathinaikos. However, the Greek side scored three minutes from the end, forcing extra time. A few minutes later, he was sent off and Panathinaikos prevailed after a penalty shoot-out.
