Fatih Terim is a Turkish association football manager and former player who is manager of the Turkish national football team. His Turkish nickname is Imparator, and his Italian nickname is Imperatore. Both names mean "emperor".

Terim's coaching career began when he was appointed the coach of Ankaragucu. In 1990 he was appointed as assistant to Turkey's national coach Sepp Piontek, and he also coached the Turkish under-21 team. After serving as assistant coach for three years, he was appointed coach in 1993. Under his management, Turkey qualified for the final tournament of European Football Championship in 1996, for the first time in its history. After Euro 1996 Terim signed a contract with Galatasaray. Under his management Galatasaray won the Turkish league championship for four consecutive years and the UEFA Cup in 2000, making Terim the most successful Galatasaray manager in its history.

Terim moved from Galatasaray to Fiorentina. Then in the summer of 2001 Terim was appointed coach of Milan. In the summer of 2002 he returned to Galatasaray. In summer 2005 Terim became the manager of the Turkish team for the second time.

During the 2010–11 Super Lig season, Galatasaray appointed a new chairman, Unal Aysal. Aysal's first act was to appoint Terim, his first and only choice, as manager - his third time to manage Galatasaray. Galatasaray finished the 2011–12 Super Lig season with 77 points, 9 points ahead of rivals Fenerbahce. In the last round of the play-offs, Galatasaray won its 18th title with a scoreless draw against Fenerbahce. It was one of Galatasaray's best seasons.

On 22 August 2013 Terim was appointed interim manager of Turkey.

A NEW FOOTBALL CLUB IS BORN<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/B><\/P>

It was back in 1908 when the track and field athlete of Panellinios, George Kalafatis, took the initiative to found the most successful team of Athens.Initially, the name of the team was<\/SPAN> \u03a0.<\/INS><\/SPAN>\u039f.<\/INS><\/SPAN>\u0391.<\/INS><\/SPAN><\/SPAN> (Football Club of Athens) and among the founding members were, apart from Kalafatis, his brother Alexandros, who was the first chairman of the club, D. Doukakis, P. Bouboulis, Em. Chrisis, Granitsas, Mantzakos, Papageorgiou, Gaetas,  Demertzis, Stavropoulos, Pashos, Misakian, Reppas, Sapounias, Garoufalias.<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

In its first official game, the Football Club of Athens (<\/SPAN>\u03a0.\u039f.\u0391.<\/SPAN>), faced Peiraikos, the team that was later named Oly<\/INS><\/SPAN>mpiakos, in Trikala in a tournament that took place between the 7th and the 9th of September 1908.<\/SPAN> \u03a0.\u039f.\u0391.<\/SPAN> beat Peiraikos 9-0. The first official game in Athens was against Ethnikos,<\/INS><\/SPAN> in which<\/SPAN> \u03a0.<\/INS><\/SPAN>\u039f.<\/INS><\/SPAN>\u0391.<\/INS><\/SPAN><\/SPAN> won 2-0.<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

Short after the founding of the team George Kalafatis changed the name of the club to \u0093<\/SPAN>\u03a0 .<\/SPAN>\u03a0 .<\/SPAN>\u039f.\u0094. (Pa<\/SPAN>nhellenic Football Club).<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

After the end of World War 1, football activity resumes and in 1918<\/SPAN> \u03a0 .<\/SPAN>\u03a0 .<\/SPAN>\u039f. establishes the green colour and the emblem of the shamrock which was designed by George Hatzopoulos, director of the National Gallery and member of Club.<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

The shamrock was brought to the club by Michalis Papazoglou, an athlete and later general secretary of Panathinaikos, who used to wear it at his former club of \u0093Chalkidona\u0094 in Constantinopole.<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

APOSTOLOS NIKOLAIDIS<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/B><\/P>

One of the most important figures in Panathinaikos history was Apostolos Nikolaidis, who was a phenomenal athlete in football, track and field, basketball and volleyball. He participated in the Olympic games of<\/FONT> Antwerp<\/FONT><\/ST1:PLACE><\/ST1:CITY> in 1920 as a football player and a track and field athlete. He was the President of SEGAS for 20 years. For many years he served as a member of the board and chairman of the Club. He is considered to be a symbol for Panathinaikos and for this reason the football stadium of Panathinaikos in<\/FONT> Alexandras Avenue<\/FONT><\/ST1:ADDRESS><\/ST1:STREET> was named after him.<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

In 1919 the Union of Football Clubs of Athens and<\/FONT> Piraeus<\/FONT><\/ST1:PLACE><\/ST1:CITY> organized the first post war championship in which Panathinaikos was declared champion. The current name, Panathinaikos Athlitikos Omilos  (Panathinaikos Football Club) was decided at the General<\/FONT><\/SPAN>  <\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

FIRST INTERNATIONAL GAME<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/B><\/P>

On the 26th of April 1925 Panathinaikos gave its first international game against the Yugoslavian team of Vittoria Zagreb, in which the final score was a draw (1-1). In 1926 it won over the Austrian Kaufenberg (1-0). The same year it gave its first match in<\/FONT> Thessaloniki<\/FONT><\/ST1:PLACE><\/ST1:CITY> against AEK Thessalonikis (what later became to become PAOK), in which Panathinaikos won (2-0).<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

a foreign coach was hired: the Hungarian Milko Forner. For the first time the team has an organized schedule and wins easily the 6th Greek Championship with 8 wins in 8 matches, scoring 41 goals and receiving only 3.<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

In 1930<\/SPAN><\/B> PANATHINAIKOS wins the traditional derby over OLYMPIAKOS with a record score of 8-2.<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

In 1940<\/SPAN><\/B> PANATHINAIKOS wins its first Greek Cup.<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

In the summer of 1959<\/SPAN><\/B>, Dimitris Domazos was transferred from Amina Abelokipon and later becomes the historic leader of the team<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

In 1960<\/SPAN><\/B>, PANATHINAIKOS participates for the first time in the Champions Cup.<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

In May 1963<\/SPAN><\/B>, the Yugoslavian Stefan Bobek becomes the new coach of the club and  PANATHINAIKOS wins the Championship with 24 wins, 6 draws and not a single defeat.<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

In 1969<\/SPAN><\/B>, with Lakis Petropoulos at the bench, PANATHINAIKOS wins its first double<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

On the 2nd of June 1970<\/SPAN><\/B>, Pouskas sings a contract with PANATHINAIKOS as the new team manager<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

On the 2nd of June 1971<\/SPAN><\/B>, PANATHINAIKOS reaches the Champions Cup Final in Wembley stadium against Ajax F.C., where they lost 2-0, after having knocked-out Jeunesse Esch of Luxemburg, Slovan Bratislava of Chechoslovakia, Everton of England and Red Star Belgrade of Yugoslavia.<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

In 1972<\/SPAN><\/B><\/FONT> PANATHINAIKOS is chosen to represent Europe in the International Cup against the Champion of South America, Nacional Montevideo of<\/FONT> Uruguay<\/FONT><\/ST1:PLACE><\/ST1:COUNTRY-REGION>. At the first leg in<\/FONT> Athens<\/FONT><\/ST1:CITY> the score was 1-1 but in the second leg PANATHINAIKOS lost 2-1 in<\/FONT> Montevideo<\/FONT><\/ST1:PLACE><\/ST1:CITY>.<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

In 1972<\/SPAN><\/B> Antonis Antoniadis becomes the first scorer of the Greek League with 39 goals, and wins the European \u0093Golden Boot\u0094.<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

On the 17th of July 1979<\/SPAN><\/B>, under Greek law 879\/79 all the football clubs change into a Societe Anonyme. The Vardinoyannis family becomes the main shareholder of the club with 54% of the total shares.<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

On the 16th of December 1981<\/SPAN><\/B><\/FONT> the opening of the<\/FONT> Athletic<\/FONT><\/ST1:PLACENAME> Center<\/FONT><\/ST1:PLACETYPE><\/ST1:PLACE> in Paiania takes place. From that day, the Center grows to become one of the most modern and complete Athletic Centers in<\/FONT> Europe<\/FONT><\/ST1:PLACE>. Many popular clubs of our continent have visited the Center either for preparation or training.<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

At the same the,<\/SPAN><\/B><\/FONT> the<\/FONT> football<\/FONT><\/ST1:PLACENAME> Academy<\/FONT><\/ST1:PLACETYPE><\/ST1:PLACE> starts functioning. Many players of the Academy have made it to the National Team and followed international careers.<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

In 1991<\/SPAN><\/B>, 20 years after the Wembley final, PANATHINAIKOS F.C. celebrates it by winning the double.<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

In May 2000<\/SPAN><\/B>, after 21 years in the Presidency, George Vardinoyannis steps down. Under his leadership PANATHINAIKOS won 6 Championships, 9 Cups, 4 doubles, 3 Super Cups, and reached twice the semi-finals of the Champions League.<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

The new president<\/SPAN><\/B> of  PANATHINAIKOS becomes Angelos Filippidis while the club remains in the ownership of the Vardinoyannis family.<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

 On the 29th of April 2001,<\/B>  Krzystzof Warzycha scores against Ionikos for the 233rd time in his career, and becomes the second best scorer in the history of the Greek League. By the end of the 2001 season he reached 235 goals.<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

In June 2003,<\/SPAN><\/B> Angelos Filippidis steps down. At his time, PANATHINAIKOS reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League and the UEFA CUP.<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

On 10th of June 2003,<\/SPAN><\/B> Argyris Mitsou becomes the new President of PANATHINAIKOS. Argyris Mitsou is an aknowledged professor of orthopedics, professor at the Medical University of Athens and President of the Consulting Medicals Team for the Olympic Games in Athens 2004. He was the doctor of PANATHINAIKOS professional team for several years and the last years was member of the Club Board of Directors.<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>
