Birmingham City Football Club is a professional football club based in the city of Birmingham, England. Formed in 1875 as Small Heath Alliance, they became Small Heath in 1888, Birmingham F.C. in 1905, finally becoming Birmingham City F.C. in 1943. At the end of the 2008–09 season, they were promoted from the Football League Championship to spend their sixth season in the Premier League.

Small Heath were founder members and first ever champions of the Football League Second Division. The most successful period in their history was in the 1950s and early 1960s. They achieved their highest finishing position of sixth in the First Division in the 1955–56 season and reached the 1956 FA Cup Final, progressed to the final of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1960 and 1961, and won their only major trophy, the League Cup, in 1963. They have spent the majority of their history in the top tier of English football, though their darkest era came between 1986 and 2002, when they were continuously outside the top division. This period included two brief spells in the third tier of the English League, during which time they twice won the Football League Trophy.<\/P>","64A2290C09C50CF35B7DBD9C8F3A2F5E":"","F3825434658EC407":"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=St+Andrews+Birmingham+stadium&sll=35.195975,-83.82843&sspn=0.0202,0.045319&ie=UTF8&ll=52.475785,-1.867263&spn=0.001882,0.005665&t=h&z=18","0192D11C6FFC52B1FA5A279107C4769C":"Tony Mowbray","B9284411187FEFF20D941F8E3FDF6E1E":"England","6EB6F6F47FE792764A0F2C28812F2AC0":"Sunderland","38882684D19FD665":"Birmingham","39EE935EB0ECE6E5":"26.23","5B70C105C09228B419825F9D2D3BB765":"","5F7B7520852B84068F743240139E0997":"
